Durbur Square

Exhausted from our journey, we decided to get something to eat and retire early for the evening. We were fortunate to find a lovely restaurant, with entertainment, i.e., a local band, with excellent food, after a few very winding roads and getting accustomed to the sound of motorcyles and bicycles letting us know that they were behind us and to beware. There were no sidewalks and we could not find any street signs on our walk.

However, everyone seemed to speak English and was more than willing to give us directions --but, it was difficult to assess the very quick right/left turn directions at times.

The next day, we plunged into the Kathmandu chaos and walked from the Thamel District to the old town to see Durbur Square. Kathmandu's Durbur Square.

The walk to the Square was an adventure filled with many people, many sights, much traffic, noise and shops filled with anything and everything from bathroom stores filled with toilets to bake shops filled with wonderful looking pastries.
